"The Extraordinary Life of Helen Roseveare"

I just listened to a podcast about the life of missionary Helen Roseveare (from the Gospel Coalition). She was a single woman who served as a medical missionary in the Congo for much of her life. She was honest about her struggles, sorrows, doubts, and God's faithfulness in it all. I encourage you to listen to this talk on her life (the podcast is about 45 minutes long).

"Dispatches from the Front"

Bible study begins this Wednesday. We will spend our first few weeks seeing Christians around the world and hearing their testimonies of the power of the gospel. We will hear of the Kingdom of Christ and its expansion in some of the most difficult to reach places (because of geography and because of resistance and persecution). We will do all this by watching several DVDs in the series "Dispatches from the Front." These videos will expand our vision of the Kingdom of Christ. Below is a video about the series:

Missions is Not Merely about Sending People

Here is a statement that is so important for our understanding of missions. This is from HeartCry Missionary Society:

Missions is not about merely  sending people to the foreign field- the Peace Corps can do that! Missions is about communicating God's truth to the world. It is a doctrinal or theological endeavor...

Statements like that are why I love the fact that our church supports HeartCry. I love reading their magazine which gives updates of the mission work they are supporting around the globe. If you have never heard of them, you should take some time to check out their website and their magazine.
